What is RSV and who's at risk?
RSV is a virus which causes respiratory illness and is mainly spread through coughing and sneezing, and contact with an infected person or contaminated surface. It spreads very similar to flu and COVID and has similar symptoms including:
- A runny nose
- Sneezing and nasal congestion
- A Cough
- A fever
While for most people these symptoms will clear up on their own, for some it can lead to more serious illnesses. To help prevent the spread of RSV, as well as getting the vaccine, it’s important to distance yourself from people with colds and flu, regularly disinfect surfaces and avoid touching your face or mouth if your hands aren’t clean.
