How far ahead to book

  • Hajj and Umrah

Going on Hajj or Umrah? See our Hajj and Umrah vaccine in Epsom: Saudi Arabia asks every pilgrim aged 1 or over for it.

  • Rabies

Rabies vaccine is three doses over three to four weeks, or one week if time is short. See our rabies vaccine in Epsom.

  • Hepatitis A

Hepatitis A vaccine needs no minimum notice, so a dose the day before you fly is still worth having. See our hepatitis A vaccine in Epsom.

  • Hepatitis B

Most hepatitis B courses are three or four doses, and the very rapid schedule protects adults in about three weeks. See our hepatitis B vaccine in Epsom.

  • Typhoid

Typhoid vaccine is one injection, given at least two weeks before you travel, and it lasts three years. See our typhoid vaccine in Epsom.

  • Yellow fever

Yellow fever vaccine is one dose for life, and the certificate becomes valid 10 days after it, so book at least 10 days before you fly. See our yellow fever vaccine in Epsom.

  • Japanese encephalitis

Japanese encephalitis vaccine is two doses 28 days apart, or a week apart for adults aged 18 to 65, and protection starts a week after the second. See our Japanese encephalitis vaccine in Epsom.

  • Malaria tablets

The most used malaria tablets start one or two days before you travel, so it's rarely too late to get protected. See our malaria tablets in Epsom.

  • Tetanus, diphtheria and polio

The tetanus, diphtheria and polio booster is one injection, and it lasts around ten years for travel. See our tetanus booster in Epsom.

Travel health, in depth

The questions travellers actually ask

Open the Health Hub
  • Itinerary

I am going to more than one country. Does that change what I need?

Often more than people expect, yes. It is not only where you end up that matters, but the order you travel in and anywhere you stop on the way, because some certificate requirements are triggered by passing through a country rather than staying in it.

    Read the full answer

  • Short notice

I fly in a few days. Is it too late to bother?

No, and please do not talk yourself out of coming. Some protection started late is still worth having, some vaccines act faster than people assume, and a good deal of what we do is advice rather than injections.

    Read the full answer

  • Certificates

Do I actually need a yellow fever certificate?

It depends on where you are going and, just as much, on where you have travelled from. Some countries ask for the certificate only if you have passed through a risk area on the way, which is what catches people out on multi-stop trips.

    Read the full answer

  • Timing

When should I book my travel vaccinations?

Six to eight weeks before you fly is ideal, because some vaccines need more than one dose and a little time to work. If your trip is sooner than that, still come and see us. There is nearly always something useful we can do in the time you have, and I will tell you honestly what fits.

    Read the full answer

  • What to bring

What should I bring to a travel appointment?

Your travel dates, where you are going, and any record of vaccines you have had before, if you have one. If you cannot find your records, do not let that stop you. We work with what you know.

    Read the full answer

  • Children

Can my children come to the travel clinic?

Yes, and it is often easier to see the whole family together. Which vaccines suit a child depends on their age and where you are going, so I look at each child individually rather than working from a list. Tell us their ages when you get in touch and we will make sure there is enough time.

In their words

We had a travel vaccine appointment and 3 of us had to be squeezed in last minute. The staff were friendly and accommodative and Alla explained the process and administered the vaccine in a pain free way. Was a smooth experience overall.

Last Minute Travel Vaccinations · Travel Clinic Google review

Miles monthly consultations have been exceptionally helpful. I experienced different side effects nigh on every month and Devvie spent the time going through each one. This has helped me focus on what is best for me. That has genuinely been invaluable.

Had a huge lump of ear wax removed. Polite and clear explanation about the procedure. Easy and painless procedure. All done with gracious care. Thank you.

Amazing service, I am very nervous when it comes to injections, but Devi was amazing, she was so patient with me and did it so quickly. Thank you!!
